FL38 1950
This picture was taken of Flotilla 38 back in the 1950s at the old Coast Guard Station on Plum Island.  This station no longer stands, due to erosion at the site, the Coast Guard moved to their new location on Water Street near downtown Newburyport.

Note that in the 50s there was no letter "K" in Merrimac, its still a controversial issue today.

There is one member pictured who is still active with the Flotilla today, Wally Lesynski.  In April 2000 Wally was recognized for having served 50 years in the Auxiliary.  Wally is the guy sitting in the front row, first on the left with his elbows resting on his knees.
