PATROLS - 08 Surface operations in support of Coast Guard Station Merrimack River A busy 2008 Boating Season of Safety Patrols and Training |
Wayne Cedres got a nice photo of the Tall Ships docked in Salisbury. The Tall Ship festival and fireworks kept many Auxiliary and active duty Coast Guard assets busy that weekend. |
Wayne also got a shot of a CG Station Merrimack River boat rescuing a jet ski that broke down and was in danger of sinking. |
Assorted phtos by Scotty Crocker: Planning the mission. |
A brief shower and the sun came out. |
Training underway, approaching another Auxiliary vessel to take it in tow. |
Taking them in tow, you can never get too much practice. |
Everyone trained that night, the crew from CGSTA Merrimack River also practice stern tows. |
Completing the drill, going from a stern tow to a side tow. |
Sometimes when you're out on a training mission you get diverted to the real thing. Taking a disabled vessel in tow. (Faces intentionally blurred. Some people are embarrassed when these things happen and we didn't have permission to put these folks on the web so we made them unidentifiable.) |
Protecting lives and property is great, but the mission's not over until the paperwork is done. |
Safe back at the dock, mission complete. |
Ah yes, the old side tow drill again. |
These guys are happy, they like their job, really! |
Just cruising the Mighty Merrimack, upriver in Amesbury. |
Underway on a training mission, heading for the mouth of the river. |
Re-Qual Check off Ride, Marlinspike underway |
Re-Qual Check off, man overboard drill complete, Oscar the manikin is recovered. |
Cruising home during sunset on the Merrimack, always a treat. |
